And this is not a joke: I'd still love to pick a summer date (if not this year, then next) and travel down to your place. This would be a great yearly "mini-Con" for the group!
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond to this post. We just got home and got the kids to bed.
Friday 7/2 will work, but just barely. The next day is Penfield's Independence Day parade which starts at 10:00 and goes by our house. We always have a picnic with our friends (all of you are invited by the way -- bring family and a dish to pass -- we provide the meat) after the parade. It's a great time.
Unfortunately, if I'm to be any use at all, I'll probably have to leave early again. There's just no way Barb can do everything, so I need to be in some condition to help.
This will mean I won't be available to host. Sorry about that.
"Common, standard hirelings are basically the usual craftsmen or laborers taken on by lower level player characters...In general the various occupations represented here are common to most settlements of village-size and above, although each and every village will not be likely to furnish each and every sort of common hireling." (ad&d "Dungeon Master's Guide", 1979) p. 28.
A careful (and at times even overly analytic) exploration of the traditions of "old school" fantasy roleplaying by two former d&d apostates who have recently returned to the game's roots. All advice and any suggestion is welcome.
Expect a particular focus on the retro-clone of OD&D, Swords & Wizardry as well as the occasional session recap from ongoing games. In our games we steal unabashedly from the great OD&D blogs linked to below.

Fine w/ me. Is your couch available if I drive up?
Or alternatively I could skip the drive and go ahead and kill my character now and save myself the trouble.
Funny. Of course my couch is available. Can't wait to see you.
Heather and I are in.
I suggest that from here on out, the party's default strategy be to run away first and ask questions later.

Friday, the 2nd, works for me and Thimble, who seems to have found a theme song.
I'm in.
Would it help anyone out to host?
I'd gladly host, but somehow think it might cut down on the evening's participants.
I'd be there...

We have a lot of room, so we could put up at least 4-6 pretty easily. Holy shit, that would be a blast.
Any idea where we'll be?

Look forward to seeing you all Friday.
Heather and I will be able to play, but because we will be hosting family from out-of-town that weekend, our place won't work either.
If we need to do it at your place, Carl, I can bring up a picnic table if need be.
